Day 8
- Nimes (France) to Abalos (Spain)

| |
Wednesday - 19th March 2008 |
 |
| |
Set off at 5:30am and just hit the road, Anne woke up
about Toulouse, 300 miles later just in time to help me
win the argument with TomTom on the directions.

|
| |
Anne received a phone call to confirm the P&O ferry
crossing on the route back, but as they had delayed in
booking it, the original one we suggested was full
groan, so we got a later one

Then pop over the boarder into Spain don't know what
the problem was at the boarder coming north, but there
was a 6km tailback at the boarder but onwards we
travelled.

Well, there was a small fun bit, TomTom was saying just
keep on a particular road for the next 800 miles (or
seemed like it) and the map was confirming that. But
suddenly, just after the sign saying 120 (mph, I'm
assuming) there was a 40 and a sharp right bend. Luckily
the road was dry and off we come, through the toll road.
Strange, so followed TomTom as it took us back, so
another toll, and off and then back again, so by this
time we're on first name basis with the toll lady.
Eventually after spotting several other cars doing the
same, found out what the problem was, the road wasn't
built yet. It was on TomTom, it was on the map, but it
just wasn't there. So a slight rerouting and more
perishing small, narrow windy roads and we're back on
track well, until there was a track jam that went on
for miles and miles, so abandoned this route and the 18
degrees temp to find the alternative route, which just
popped over the local mountain, loads of snow and the
temp dropped down to zero. More hairpin bends and we'd
made it over the mountain and get to Abalos. |

The winery only has about 6 rooms and provides B&B with
the advantage of having a wine tour, wine tasting and
the indoor swimming pool. At last the holiday was
starting the go in the right direction.
